Assists supervising physician in delivering services to patients. Participates in the preoperative evaluation and postoperative care of patients. Assists supervising physician in the operating room participates in patient teaching. Performs duties as directed by supervising physician in accordance with the objective, policies and procedures of the hospital and the state Physician`s Assistant Act.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an AMA accredited physician assistant program and licensed by the New Jersey Board of Medical Examiners. May begin entry level without experience.
Founded in 1865, Saint Barnabas Medical Center is New Jersey`s oldest and largest nonprofit, nonsectarian hospital, and among the busiest facilities in New Jersey.
The 645-bed institution cares for over 40,000 inpatients and nearly 60,000 Emergency Department patients each year. The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology delivers 7,000 babies annually, more than any other hospital in New Jersey. In addition, the Medical Center and the Saint Barnabas Ambulatory Care Center provide treatment and services for over 300,000 outpatients annually.
The Medical Staff is comprised of more than 1,500 physicians in 68 medical and surgical specialties and there are over 4,000 employees. As a teaching institution, Saint Barnabas trains 141 residents and fellows each year through 10 approved residency programs.
Among Saint Barnabas` nationally recognized facilities are The Burn Center, the only certified burn treatment facility in the state; the Saint Barnabas Health Care System Renal Transplant Center, which performs more transplants than any other facility in New Jersey, New York, Boston or Philadelphia; The HEART HOSPITAL of New Jersey, a world-class cardiac surgery program in affiliation with Newark Beth Israel Medical Center; and the Regional Perinatal Center, providing care for high-risk and critically ill infants in New Jersey`s leading 50-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
